New England Moto
05/15/16 5:45 PM

This past week my son and I did a trip through the Catskills and Adirondack Mountains in NY, the Green Mountains in Vermont and The White Mountains in New Hampshire. We covered roughly 1250 miles in 4 days of riding. My Padawan was on a 2004 Kawasaki ZX-6R and I was on a 2013 Kawasaki ZX-14R. Our jumping off point was home, which is about 15 minutes east of Philadelphia, Pa. Apart from the first hour or so of the first day we stayed off highways until the last day when heavy rain was predicted.
On the first day way rode up into the Catskills, stopping in Oneonta for the night. On the second day we rode north on Hwy 10 up into the Adirondacks before heading east through Vermont and on into New Hampshire. We ended day two just south of Franconia Notch State Park. On day three we headed south through the White Mountain National Forrest. We pretty much had the road to ourselves and had a great time ripping through the sweepers on Kancamagus Hwy. We had a full day’s ride planned for the fourth day but heavy thunderstorms were predicted so we decided to super slab it home. I don’t mind riding in the rain, but if I can heavy thunderstorms I will.

Here are some pics from the trip...

Looks like you had a great ride. The white mountains and Kancamangas Hgwy is an awesome ride. How did you like the "Bio-Toilets" by the waterfalls. I almost barfed when I walked in it stunk so bad, of course that was in August and the place was packed!!!

Fortunately we did not need to make use of them.

My stomping grounds! I wish I knew you were coming this way I would've tagged along for a bit. I ride the Catskills and the Adirondacks, haven't spent much time in Vermont and no time in NH. Looks like you had fun, nice pics.

Nice lean you have in that first pic, Sarg. Hope it was warm that day. I haven't dared ride too hard yet.

Getting ready for my annual trip into central Vermont. I go up there with some friends I went to highschool with. I love those green mountain roads if they're not too buckled by the winter weather and spring flooding. Routes 73, 125, and 17 are lots of fun. We usually blast out the Kanc in New Hampshire too, went up Mt. Washington last year.

Last year I was on my blue 2012, this year I'll be on my green 2015.

I would have to slow down for sights like that. That's so beautiful, I don't even mind that the photographer cut off your front wheel.

Nice, Large Sarge! Thanks for posting the nice pics.

wfozx14's comment about wishing he'd known you would be in his area makes me think we need a sticky thread where guys can post up about their upcoming trip, letting others know the dates / location / route, and scheduled stops if known, and maybe that they could join for all or part of it, or just to schedule a stop for lunch to meet other 14 owners.

For example, last year when my 2 buds and I left FL for NC we had the first 3+ days' motels scheduled so we knew where we'd be each night and could've either briefly met up with some other riders, or had lunch / dinner, or even had some riders join us for part of the ride.

Just a thought ...

Yeah, it would be cool to hook up with others on the forum on trips.
