This past week my son and I did a trip through the Catskills and Adirondack Mountains in NY, the Green Mountains in Vermont and The White Mountains in New Hampshire. We covered roughly 1250 miles in 4 days of riding. My Padawan was on a 2004 Kawasaki ZX-6R and I was on a 2013 Kawasaki ZX-14R. Our jumping off point was home, which is about 15 minutes east of Philadelphia, Pa. Apart from the first hour or so of the first day we stayed off highways until the last day when heavy rain was predicted.
On the first day way rode up into the Catskills, stopping in Oneonta for the night. On the second day we rode north on Hwy 10 up into the Adirondacks before heading east through Vermont and on into New Hampshire. We ended day two just south of Franconia Notch State Park. On day three we headed south through the White Mountain National Forrest. We pretty much had the road to ourselves and had a great time ripping through the sweepers on Kancamagus Hwy. We had a full day’s ride planned for the fourth day but heavy thunderstorms were predicted so we decided to super slab it home. I don’t mind riding in the rain, but if I can heavy thunderstorms I will.
